The book begins with Amy running away from her wedding when she realises her daughter Tess has gone. It is then written to show the recent past and Amy and William moving in together as well as another timeline in the 1990s.
I enjoyed the mystery surrounding the truth behind the characters. The pace of the plot develops quite quickly with little clues which unsettle the characters. Tess goes through a whole heap of teenage angst from fashion to crushes as well as negotiating a new family set up. I felt that the relationships between parents and children and the couple were realistic.
